I had the loveliest weekend filled with creative friends! On Saturday morning, I hung out with photographer, Linnea Paulina and team, as well as our sweet friends, Penelope and Sabine. Polarn O. Pyret sent over some of their new Swedish-inspired prints and we spent a rainy Portland morning mixing and matching to our heart's content.

Three tips we learned for mixing prints: 1. repeat colors 2. experiment with different scales. 3. add a solid color to give the eye a rest.

We decided adding crazy, fun socks and tights is the perfect way to finish off an outfit!

happy monday!

Hello! I've been snowed inside for four and a half days and finally shoveled my way out of the driveway this afternoon! Glad to be back! I am excited to share a shoot today that is a collaboration with photographer, Lisa Warninger, Megan of Summerland, and our favorite model/botanist-on-the-block, Skye!

This was a test shoot to explore movement and motion.

I love the results!

winter tip: wear bright socks

I feel like we are on the homestretch of winter here in the Northwest. I know we have mild winters and the last couple of years have been oddly sunny and dry, but the short days and darkness are still tough for me. I've been making a conscious effort this year to do little things to lighten my moods. A few months ago, I splurged on some colorful French socks at Una. Wearing bright socks makes me happy! It's tough to be grumpy when you are wearing flowers, polka dots, or stripes on your feet!

Here are more tips on surviving winter. Soon, I'll be sharing even more ideas on how to combat winter!

fischer spring '14

I am excited to share the Fischer spring look book today! Fischer has been a long time favorite of mine. All the clothing is made in the USA from natural fabrics, made in India and Japan and the US. Owner and designer, Kristina says, "I've been working directly with fabric mills in India, and love that the fabrics are all still handmade. The subtle inconsistencies I find beautiful and offer character you can't achieve with machines."

The look book was shot in New Orleans at two adjoining homes, built in the 1830's. Kristina always just kills it with her look books, with her historic locations and effortless styling.

Kristina tried to make this collection easy-going, optimistic, and playful. She says,"I spent a lot of time listening to so-cal band 'The Growlers' and getting into the free-and-easy spirit they evoke, and working toward emphasizing that attitude, but maintaining good structure and utility in the designs."

See more of the collection right here. As a sidenote: I wore a couple of Fischer tops consistently on my trip to Buenos Aires ( I didn't pack a lot!) and couldn't get enough. They were easy to layer and oh so comfortable!

new from yo vintage!

One of my goals for 2014 is to dress up a bit more and maybe actually wear make-up more than once a week! The new look book from vintage clothier, Yo Vintage! has me super inspired to channel a little more girl and glam- all in a very understated way of course!

English girl, Sarah Radcliffe, has created a jewel of a shop, downtown Portland. An oasis of sparkles, fun and girliness, the shop stands out with its off-beat sophistication in a town filled with just a little too much plaid flannel (I love that too of course. xo Portland!)

Two of my favorite dresses I own come from Yo Vintage! The shop (online and in person) is stocked with surprising and inspired vintage finds to mix and match with new, handmade or other thrifted pieces. Keep in mind, Yo Vintage! isn't your typical corner thrift shop. Sarah's collection of vintage is edited (often her staff even alter the pieces to update them), cleaned, and steamed so you are shopping one-of-a-kind clothing in beautiful condition.

The new look book, styled by Sarah and photograhed by Endless Wild, celebrates winter in monochromatic tones of silver, cream, ecru, and petal pink dotted with sequins, lace, and hand-knit textures.
