Over the weekend, I finally had the chance to visit this barn my brother has been working on for the last year. It is truly amazing. It's built in a post and beam style (notice the wooden pegs!) and has a stone foundation. All the wood, windows and doors are recycled. I think there's a bit more to do on it (painting, etc) but it is looking quite nice I think. More photos here.

Holy cannoli. That's one seriously nice barn. Is he planning on living in it or is all that craftsmanship for regular ol' hay?

He's building it for my parents. I think they want to make the top floor of the barn into some sleeping quarters and the rest will be for regular old barn stuff like you say:)

HOLY COW! This is a dream barn for cows and other critters. It is so nice and so rustic, it could be a B & B for non-bovines :-)

This is beautiful! What a great project. Someday when we have space, I would love to have a barn, especially one that I or a loved one built with our hands. Wonderful.

Hey Victoria- He built it for my parents along with a small cabin (built in the same style). They are going to build their own house on the property. I think the top section of the barn will be a sleeping loft for when all their grandkids come and visit:)
Julia- Yes he designed it and built it. He's sort of self-taught so we joke about it falling down all the time. But, I think it's pretty stable:) He learned all the architect-y math stuff..or whatever it is you need to know to make a building stand:)
